Compassionate Therapy Tailored
Just for You
Hi, I’m Bhoomeeka Jain — the mind behind The Desi Therapist. 👋
I believe therapy should feel less intimidating and more like a conversation that helps you understand yourself a little better. At The Desi Therapist, my goal is to make mental health approachable, practical, and culturally relevant—breaking the stigma one conversation at a time. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationships, stress, self-esteem, parenting, career confusion, or simply trying to understand yourself better, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can heal, grow, and thrive. As a Counselling Psychologist and a qualified Handwriting Analyst, I combine evidence-based psychological practices with personality insights to help individuals of all ages build healthier minds and more meaningful lives.
My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, stress management, adolescent and teen concerns, anger management, relationship and marital counselling, behavioural issues, self-esteem challenges, substance abuse, and crisis intervention, including suicidal ideation. Through The Desi Therapist, I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and evidence-based space where individuals and families can heal, grow, and thrive.
Education, Experience & Achievements
I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology from Maniben Nanavati Women’s College, Mumbai, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mithibai College, Mumbai. I am a qualified Handwriting Analyst, enabling me to offer personality insights through handwriting analysis alongside psychological counselling.
Over the years, I have conducted individual, group, and behavioural counselling sessions for more than 10,000 children, adolescents, adults, and families, while leading mental health awareness initiatives across 40+ schools and educational institutions. I have served as the Head of Counsellors (PAN India) and Learning & Development Assistant at Ryan International Group of Institutions, where I designed and delivered counselling programs, career guidance sessions, and life-skills workshops for students from Grades 1–12.
My work has extended beyond counselling rooms into conferences, educational institutions, and media platforms. I have been invited as a guest speaker, delivered TEDx-style sessions, participated in the Indian Mental Health Festival (NIMHANS – Manotsava), collaborated with the ICHAD Foundation on global conversations around substance use and mental health, and have been featured in interviews, podcasts, webinars, and newspapers for spreading mental health awareness. I have also actively participated in and collaborated with numerous schools, colleges, NGOs, and educational organizations, conducting workshops, awareness campaigns, career counselling, and emotional well-being programs. Through The Desi Therapist, I continue to make psychology relatable, accessible, and impactful—one conversation, one workshop, and one life at a time.
My work has been recognized across multiple media and educational platforms for promoting mental health awareness and emotional well-being. I have been featured in Hindustan Times, contributed to podcasts discussing childhood stress and anxiety, and shared practical mental health insights through YouTube sessions on anger management and relationship psychology. I have also authored educational content, including A Mental Guide for Parents, Students, and Young Adults, to make psychology more relatable and accessible. Through webinars, podcasts, articles, and digital platforms, I continue to simplify psychological concepts and encourage open conversations around mental health for people of all ages.
